BACK COVER BLURB:

The secret lies with the Heart.

Born with a magical knack for manipulating emotions, Leodora’s only dream is to ensure her talented little sister dances on the biggest, brightest stage in the Republic: The Curiosity, a grand old theater of tradition and innovation. After escaping a cruel carnival, Leo secures her sister a place in the Curiosity’s chorus line, and herself a job as a professional audience member, swaying the crowd’s mood with her magic. The girls have a home for the first time in their lives.

Then a tragic accident darkens the theater. A greedy businessman begins blackmailing Leo, and financial woes threaten to close the show forever. The Curiosity’s sole hope lies in a mythical power source hidden beneath the maze-like passages and trapdoors of the theater—the Heart. And Leo’s only friend Paxton, nephew of the theater’s stagemistress, is the key to finding it.

While Leo and Paxton hunt for the Heart, the blackmailer’s threats loom larger. Mysterious figures, cryptic clues, and deadly traps hinder the search at every turn. If the friends cannot recover the Heart in time, Leo and her sister will be cast out of the only home they’ve ever known, and the final curtain will fall on The Curiosity.

Enter a world reminiscent of The Greatest Showman, with a puzzle worthy of Sherlock Holmes and National Treasure, in this new Steampunk Fantasy from H. L. Burke.

Inferno cover revel and release date!!!!

Inferno cover reveal and release date!!!!!

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this. This book has been almost a decade in the making. Inferno was originally written as a serial short story for my homeschool riding group – the Saddle Up Club – for their monthly newsletter. It was one of the first stories I actually finished writing, and I got a lot of great comments and feedback from it back then.

While I was in the process of writing my novel – Midnight Dancer – I started having trouble concentrating. So to get the creative juices flowing again I picked Inferno back up and began completely re-writing it. My writing style has changed a lot since then, so I went pretty crazy on it –  and it has grown from a short story of about 9,000 words, to a full length novella that is now at approx. 27,000+ words!

Now, I am so happy to finally be able to re-introduce Inferno to the world!

Back Cover Blurb:

Fire can destroy, or it can refine.

The Wilderness Ride Campout is the highlight of the year for Ashley Thompson and her friends. Not even her antagonistic fellow rider, Jocelyn Gregory, can ruin this weekend for her.

But when a wildfire traps them together on the mountain, relationships are taxed to the breaking point and old wounds torn open. Limited by injuries and with no clue where they are, The girls must find a way to set aside their prejudices and work together, or perish in the blaze.

And now, without further ado, the lovely new cover!

Inferno Kindle cover final fixed

This is only my second attempt at cover photoshopping, and I just love how it turned out!

Official release date is July 9!

Cover reveals: Kregel Publications spring/summer 2017 lineup!

All the covers in this lineup are simple in style, yet still pretty. The lovely blue on white cover of Lady Charlotte is easily my favorite, while the cover of Miss Ellison reminds me strongly of Sarah E. Ladd’s books with its subdued colors, style, and the positioning of the woman on the front. Courageous Love certainly has enough pink to get a double-take, and the descriptions of most have me eager to read them. But overall, most of these books look way too much like half the others in their respective genres, and are likely to get easily lost in an already large crowd.

Click on any book cover below to be taken to the book’s Amazon page.

*  The Elusive Miss Ellison by Carolyn Miller

Publication Date: Feb 27

Pride, prejudice and forgiveness…
Hampton Hall’s new owner has the villagers of St. Hampton Heath all aflutter–all except Lavinia Ellison. The reverend’s daughter cares for those who are poor and sick, and the seventh Earl of Hawkesbury definitely does not meet that criteria. His refusal to take his responsibilities seriously, or even darken the door of the church, leave her convinced he is as arrogant and reckless as his brother–his brother who stole the most important person in Lavinia’s world.

Nicholas Stamford is shadowed by guilt: his own, his brother’s, the legacy of war. A perfunctory visit to this dreary part of Gloucestershire wasn’t supposed to engage his heart, or his mind. Challenged by Miss Ellison’s fascinating blend of Bluestocking opinions, hoydenish behavior, and angelic voice, he finds the impossible becoming possible–he begins to care. But Lavinia’s aloof manner, society’s opposition and his ancestral obligations prove most frustrating, until scandal forces them to get along.

Can Lavinia and Nicholas look beyond painful pasts and present prejudice to see their future? And what will happen when Lavinia learns a family secret that alters everything she’s ever known?

*  The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller

Publication Date: June 27

Her heart is her own―but her hand in marriage is another matter
Lady Charlotte Featherington is destined for great things on the marriage market. After all, as the beautiful daughter of a marquess, she should have her pick of the eligible nobility when she debuts. She, however, has love at the top of her list of marriageable attributes. And her romantic heart falls hard for one particularly dashing, attentive suitor. Sadly for Charlotte, her noble father intends her betrothed to be someone far more dull.
William Hartwell may be a duke, but he knows he was Charlotte’s father’s pick, not the young lady’s own choice. And the captivating Lady Charlotte does not strike him as a woman who will be wooed by his wealth or title. While she has captured his heart, he has no idea how to win hers in return–and the betrayal and scandal his first wife put him through makes it difficult for him to believe that love can ever be trusted. His only hope is that Charlotte’s sense of responsibility will win out over her romantic notions.
Can a widowed duke and a romantically inclined lady negotiate a future and discover love beyond duty? Will they be able to find healing and hope from the legacy of grace? Poignant and charming, this is another beautifully written, clean and wholesome Regency romance from Carolyn Miller.

*  Liar’s Winter by Cindy K. Sproles

Publication Date: June 27

Lochiel Ogle was born with a red wine birthmark–and it put her life in jeopardy from the moment she entered the world. Mountain folks called it “the mark of the devil” and, for all the evil that has plagued her nineteen-year existence, Lochiel is ready to believe that is true. And the evil surely took control of the mind of the boy who stole her as an infant, bringing her home for his mother to raise.

Abused and abandoned by the only people she knows as family, Lochiel is rescued by a peddler and given the first glimpse of love she has ever known. The truth of her past is gradually revealed as is the fact that she is still hunted by a brother driven to see her dead. Unsure if there’s anyone she can truly trust, Lochiel is faced with a series of choices: Will she continue to run for escape or will she face her past and accept the heartbreaking secrets it reveals? Which will truly free her?

Set in the wild and beautiful Appalachian Mountains of nineteenth-century East Tennessee, Liar’s Winter is an unflinching yet inspirational exploration of prejudice and choices.

*  Too Deep For Words by Andrea Boeshaar

Publication Date: Apr 27

North meets South in the second installment of this popular Civil War series

Carrie Ann Collier has been a newlywed for nineteen blissful days–as blissful as life can be in the midst of war, that is. Soon that war will take a toll she never expected. When her new husband, Peyton, goes missing during battle, she refuses to believe he is dead, and must find a way to move forward with everyday life in the face of fear.

As Carrie struggles with how to welcome her estranged sister, Margaret, back into her life, another new arrival appears on her doorstep–her husband’s best friend, and rebel officer, Eli. Wounded and bitter, Eli is nonetheless committed to keeping his promise to Peyton: take care of the Collier women, no matter what. But to Carrie, he’s a painful reminder of her lost love.

Then unexpected news makes Carrie wonder if miracles do happen. If Carrie infiltrates the enemy once again, she might find out what really happened to the love of her life. Will Eli be able to keep his promise to keep her safe? Can they forgive each other if promises are broken?

As fans of Boeshaar’s books have come to expect, Too Deep for Words is a meticulously researched novel. Readers are taken directly into the heart of the realities of the Civil War and reminded how, even in the darkest circumstances, faith in Christ offers hope.

*  A Trail of Crumbs by Susie Finkbeiner

Publication date: Mar 27

“I believed it would have been a sin to stay inside when God had sent us such fine weather. According to Pastor Ezra Anderson, sin was the reason we’d got in the dusty mess we were in. The way I saw it, that day was God’s way of letting us know He wasn’t mad at us anymore. Just maybe He’d seen fit to forgive us.”

Pearl Spence has been through more in her young life than most folks could handle. But through it all, her family has been by her side. They may not be perfect, but they love her and they all love each other, come what may. That’s one thing Pearl no longer questions.

But the end of her beautiful day signals the beginning of the end of her secure life.

Now her family is fleeing their Oklahoma wasteland. Pearl isn’t sure she’ll ever see home or happiness again. Are there any crumbs powerful enough to guide her back to the dependable life she once knew?

The strong narrative voice of Finkbeiner’s young protagonist from A Cup of Dust returns in this gritty yet hopeful sequel, sure to please her many fans.

Cover Reveals: Tyndale House spring 2017 lineup

The covers for Tyndale house’s upcoming spring releases are now up! And there are some beauties in here.

The simple beauty of Everson’s cover easily catches the eye. And I adore the peachy color scheme.
The bold tones of Mills’s cover are also dramatically eye-catching. However I have seen that male model on so many different covers I’m getting a little bit tired of him.
Rosenberg’s is more of a been there, seen that, kind of cover. You can only look at so many near identical cover pictures of the capitol before it ceases to interests you.
Mackall’s has such a sweet old fashioned feel to it with the both the colors and the photograph, with just a hint of tension coming from the military setting below.
Dekker, Liggett, and Fabry’s covers are also quite nice, but not particularly memorable, and Calvert’s is simple but intriguing.

What’s your take on these covers?

As always, just click on a cover to be taken to that book’s Amazon Kindle page

Cover Reveals: WaterFall Press Fall 2016 Lineup

Waterfall Press, Amazon’s relatively new Christian Fiction imprint, has created some absolutely stunning covers in their fall lineup. I know this post is a bit late, but better late than never right?
Eakes and Dobson’s covers are by far my favorites of the lot. The styles and color quickly draw the eye, and I love the ship. I’m a huge sucker for ships on covers.
Acker’s is also quite eye catching with just a hint of creepiness. Love it. Gray, Allan, and Maytayo keep theirs pretty but simple, and Stone’s ballet dancer on glass is unique and makes me want to pick it up just to see what happened.

You can click on any of the covers below for the Amazon Kindle page if you want to see more.

Not only do the higher-ups love Olivia, but Will plays his best game yet. Suddenly his losing streak is a thing of the past, and Olivia is his new good-luck charm. Will feels anything but lucky.

After years of keeping the world at bay, Olivia Pratt is pulling off the ultimate performance—not only reluctantly posing as Will’s girlfriend but also insisting that she’s oblivious to his major-league appeal. But she can only lie to herself for so long. Being by Will’s side feels good. Really good. Maybe it’s finally time to make a pitch for everything she really wants—and to find out just how exhilarating love can be.

Now without further ado, Here are the gorgeous covers as well as their purchase links on Amazon and a brief description:

NO. 1

Beast by Chawna Schroeder:

Beast

Isn’t it absolutely stunning? This is by far my favorite cover of the four. The colors, the eyes… oh wow, those eyes. I could just stare at this cover all day. Gorgeous work.

Book Blurb:

I am Beast. I serve the master.

For as long as Beast can remember, she has lived among her master’s dogs. With them she sleeps. With them she eats. With them she fights and struggles to survive. But through hunger and cold she dreams of one day becoming her master’s favorite, earning bones with meat and a place beside the fire.

When her pack scatters after a surprise raid, Beast must defend herself against slavers, hunting down the loners.

They are so strong, and she is only a beast . . . or is she?

For anyone who has found a monster within, Beast is a tale of truth and transformation.

Intriguing, no?

NO. 2

Chains of Gwyndorr by Joan Campbell

chains-book-cover-1

This cover is my second favorite. I just love the colors and the fantastical feel.

Book Blurb:

Secret schemes. Stolen magic.

Trapped behind Gwyndorr’s towering walls, Shara longs to unlock the secrets that surround her. She believes the Cerulean Dusk Dreamer is the key. The power rock gives vivid dreams of the past and future but it also has a dark side.

Its forces lay siege to her future, tightening her chains. In seeking help, Shara rekindles a forbidden friendship with Nicho, the Lowborn lawbreaker facing banishment to the Rif’twine Forest.

Together, Shara and Nicho must thwart the plans of their enemies. But what if the power they unleash is an even greater chain than what they’ve come to bear?

NO. 3

The Word Endangered by Steve Rzasa

the word endangered

Here we can see a lush forest broken up by what appears to be a crashed starship. Doesn’t it just make you want to jump right on in to find out what happened? I borrowed the first two books in this series years ago and loved them. Lots of action. I’ll totally be looking into this one.

Book Blurb:

So much for peace and quiet.

Now that the government overthrow is said and done, a new frontier awaits colonization.

That’s where Zarco Thread and his wife enter. He and Ria head up a surveying crew, commissioned to report on worlds with potential for settlements. However, nothing is settling about what they discover.

A conspiracy threatens to unravel the progress the Five Realms made in the last decade. Not to mention, strain the development of Zarco and Ria’s marriage.

This time it’s more serious than revenge…

A dominating force exists in the Realm that has recruited their long-time enemies, tempting them with a greater plot, one that will endanger the Word once again.

And finally,

NO. 4

Space Drifters: The Iron Gauntlet

the iron gauntlet

This cover has a great cool color scheme that I love. Kirk DuPonce always makes the most awesome covers.

Book Blurb:

Reality check.

No good-luck charm can help Captain Glint Starcrost out of this no-holds-barred reality show. The Iron Gauntlet pits competitors against four of the most fearsome, fang-filled, alien fighters in the universe.

He’s one of the few human challengers ever chosen to contend, but he’s not alone.

A fan, a mysterious benefactor, offers Glint and his ragtag team support. The catch? If Glint loses or withdrawals from the competition, it will mean a permanent game over for his crew and the woman he loves.

Will he have the mettle to medal? Or is the game too much of a gamble?
